How to Get Nominated?

All employees at PSI can nominate up to three articles. The nominations and relevant attachments should be submitted via the online form found in the link below.

Which Articles Are Considered?

Peer-reviewed articles published online or in print within the current year are eligible for consideration. Articles that are only accepted but not yet published are not considered. The PhD candidate must be the first author (shared first authorship is acceptable).

Who Can Be Nominated?

Both internal and external doctoral candidates can be nominated. The candidate must be enrolled in our PhD program. Doctoral candidates who have defended their thesis at PSI in the year the award is given can also be nominated.

Who Evaluates the Articles?

A committee consisting of two PSI staff members is appointed by the Head of research. Standard rules of impartiality apply. The decision and rationale will be made public before Christmas. The award does not have to be given every year. The committee will conduct an overall quality assessment and will base its evaluation on criteria such as originality, potential contribution to a field of study, scientific significance, methodological use, and societal value. The doctoral candidate's own contribution should be assessed, potentially alongside the article's real and potential impact if relevant. Accessibility and transparency in the research process, such as making data, the article, and related resources available, can be positively considered.
